Every once in a while...General Caldo liked to go make it a point to head to the barracks of the newly enlisted Saiyans, almost for nostalgia reasons. There he also liked to sarcastically give his two cents on whether or not he thought someone could make it through the rigorous training methods of the Saiyan Militia, and sometimes, when he was simply bored...he went there to make fun of the ones that were way too obvious NOT to fail. Plopping down on a table on the side of the line of new enlistments, Caldo leaned back on both arms. From here, watched as the Sergeants scolded the newest pieces of crap that enlisted to try to be a hero, or because their father did it so they thought that they should become a piece of crap too...or maybe the USD just told them that they had to because their monthly Power Level check. Whatever their reasoning was, he knew it wouldn't be enough. You need to have certain drives and certain flaws in your personality just to make it through their asinine basic training, and THAT was the easy part.
Within seconds; the General found himself sitting there leaning back, with his eyes suddenly feeling like they weighed a thousand pounds or so, he slowly closed them and was instantly transported to a dream-world where he pictured everything that happened when he first enlisted. It felt like he stood up and was no longer in his forties, he was maybe nine-teen years of age, no gray hair and full of what one might call 'spunk'. Looking around, he realized that in the background, someone was scolding him, it was his old trainer; his name was 'Braccus', and he was a real hard ass, but he was fair.
"Private Caldo, you piece of shit, you're not even first class, what the hell are you doing!?" yelled Corporal Braccus. There then became an immediate memory and instance where Caldo found himself getting kicked by Private First-Classes while he was working out, they would literally punch him in the back when he did push-ups. The moment he went from down position to up, came several kicks to his kidneys from behind, he would count one and go up, suffer kicks, and go back into down potion while returning to up position. His body literally welting all over, he remembered getting to maybe sixty-five before he passed out, from pure pain.
Caldo remembered when he woke up from that beating, he was told to do levitated jumping jacks and every time he landed, before he could catch his breath, he would get round-housed in the gut, get flown into the air from the strike, be told to stop himself while mid-air, and focus his energy to allow it so that he slowly and smoothly came back to his exact same spot as before, and do it several times again. This was a rough routine, at the time, he didn't see the reason, but he was constantly scolded that it was for all together control of the entire body and it's energy as a balance. You were supposed to forget the pain and come back. This happened at least twenty-five times in the morning, again before lunch, and again before rest time.
After recalling that situation, the Saiyan warrior could remember the tedious callisthenic exercises that he did on his own. All of the push-ups, crunches, pull-ups, squats...all of it seemed so ridiculous at the time but it eventually helped mold him into the fighter he would someday become, and the General that he eventually became. Overall, the exercise tactics were a lot to deal with but, it helped to weed out the weak and the feebler minded. Being a soldier is about keeping it together under pressure while always maintaining composure even when you don't think you can, when you believe you've given it your all...you've still got to reach down deeper and pull out what you didn't know you have and push that shit out. That's what it means to be a prideful Saiyan and that's what it takes to someday become an elite or even beyond that.
One of the best memories that Caldo could look back on was when his Sargent at the time, tossed him and three other warriors into what he called the "The Pit" and an energy field would appear instead of bars around this pit that was sunk into the ground. Inside the pit? A giant a monster with a purple under-belly and it's entire body was covered in very sharp, deadly spikes and this thing, had a massive anger problem if you looked it in the eyes. The spikes on this beast's body were encased in it's energy to be deflective so that using energy attacks was basically useless...this was the scariest time in Caldo's life, ever. This thing was strong and fast, and his tail-whip was super deadly. On top of that, if he charged at you, he would definitely rip your skin apart, as if it were paper to him.
At this time in his life, Caldo didn't have nearly as many techniques mastered so he was in what one would call a seriously rough situation, between a rock and hard spot, if you will. Scared as hell and not wanting to die, the only thing he could think of was to levitate into the air and fire eye-beams at the beast in the very narrow spots between it's spikes and he realized that it had to stop moving when it took damage in those weak spots and he was able to use energy-charged fists to literally beat the crap out of this beast for a moment before it started swinging it's tails wildly again. One good swing happened though, that the Saiyan didn't see coming and it caused him to fly into the dirt, which felt like he just got hit in the ribs by a garbage truck. The first Saiyan that attacked the beast and was knocked into the dirt was now awake and he again attacked the beast but within seconds he too, was smacked hard into the dirt once again.
Caldo got back up, gritted his teeth, clenched his fists and darted towards the beast again with a energy infused kick to it's head and the damn beast wound up rolling over onto it's back and this left the Saiyan fighter with really only one choice. Bringing back his right hand while charging energy into it, Caldo charged energy into his hands once more, now doubling the energy it would normally take and he met his right hand with his left hand with his hands spread side to side and unleashed a massive wave of turquoise-colored energy that looked like it was wrapped a in silver-colored twinkling energy while shouting "Cosmic Wave" and watched as it decimated this spikey beast with his double charged energy attack. Breathing hard after releasing so much energy had him breathing hard afterwards and he dropped to the ground on his back, sighing in relief that this shit was finally done.
This memory was precious to the General as it was one of his more defining moments when he was a young soldier, and he opened his eyes to find himself leaning on one of the tables and looked around while widening his eyes as if to come back to reality. Looking around he quickly brought himself back to reality and sat forward while stretching out his back and shoulders.
"Ya'll don't even know what's about to happen..." he thought to himself with a smirk as he stood up from the table. Looking at how many new recruits there were made him proud, this in turn made him very happy. Caldo was extremely proud of the Saiyan Militia and soon, it would be time for him to command this army to go hard against the USD and reclaim the planet...
